Background

Meet Jake, one of RCR’s most special and memorable rescues of 2020 so far. Spotted on the street looking wobbly and with noticeable eye issues, Jake was rushed to a vet and it was determined that he was suffering from severe glaucoma in both eyes, causing him incredible pain. The only way to give Jake quality of life was to remove both eyes. Jake underwent a double enucleation surgery, which he aced. Thanks to a caring and diligent foster family, he’s fully recovered and ready for a home of his own.

Jake’s foster mom describes his as a dream house cat. He is a mature boy who doesn’t need for much – a comfy bed, regular snuggles and chin scratches, some yummy food and a trusted person to keep him safe. Jake is a quiet, mature fellow is quite happy to snooze and play with his favourite cat toy, especially with some cat nip rubbed on it. He is laid back and a wonderful quiet companion to lay next to you (or on you!) while you watch TV, read or sleep. His fur is super soft as he is very good at keeping himself clean. Jake is happy cat now that he is pain-free and loving life. He doesn’t want your sympathy, just your love and attention! He has been thriving in foster care and quickly learned how to navigate his space. While it might be a bit more work to introduce him to your household than a sighted cat, it will be worth it. He is loving and appreciative of your care and attention. Jake would do best in a quiet home as an only cat or with another friendly cat who is introduced gradually.
