Background
This amazing kitty has a true perseverant spirit that has inspired many people. Found in a snow bank 2 weeks ago when the temperatures were in the -30’s, Hawksley had severe frostbite on one of his back legs which required immediate medical attention. After a day at the vet clinic for observation, Hawksley was released to his foster home with the cautious optimism that his leg would heal. Unfortunately, several days later it became obvious that the leg would not heal, and to prevent infection from spreading to his body, Hawksley’s leg was amputated to save his life. An appeal was made to the public for help with covering the cost of Hawksley’s surgery, and we were overwhelmed with the response this little fellow got.
Now recovering in his foster home, Hawksley is adapting very quickly to having only 3 legs and is not letting his “disability” keep him down. His foster mom is pleasantly surprised at how happy a kitten Hawksley is, and how affectionate he is. With Hawksley’s determination to live life to the fullest, you’d never know he only had 3 legs. He is a true inspiration to the humans whose lives he’s touched with his story.
