RCR says good-bye to Presley

                                                                                                              Presley

Three years ago RCR was contacted by a woman who could no longer keep her cats.  She had moved them to what she though would be a good situation but found out that her 2 cats were being abused; when she contacted RCR she was desperate for help.  Though re-homing is not RCR's mandate, in certain situations exceptions will be made and this situation screamed for an exception.

Both the cats were dropped at a local vet clinic where they boarded while a foster spot was located.  It was during this time that it became evident that Presley was suffering from aggression issues (most likely post traumatic stress) which would make her very difficult to place.  However, RCR believes that every cat deserves a chance and requests went out for a special foster home who could work with Presley and her friend Lola.

Thankfully, a wonderful woman named Lynn contacted RCR and volunteered to take Presley and Lola and was aware of Presley's aggression issues.  Through thick and thin, Lynn stood by Presley and worked with her to teach Presley that human's could be great people and that she had nothing to fear.  During the 3 years Presley slowly warmed up to Lynn and was happy to receive pets and snuggles, however, even the slightest noise would send her into fight mode which always resulted in scratches and sometimes bites.

A week ago Presley's aggression reached a point where Lynn and her family where no longer safe, and though RCR does it's best to deal with situations medically so to avoid euthanizing cats, there are times when it is necessary.  Sadly, Presley was no longer living a life, she was simply surviving day to day in extreme fear, and that is not a life anyone would want to live.

With an RCR volunteer at her side, Presley slipped peacefully from this life that she was so terrified of and woke at Rainbow Bridge surrounded by all the cats that have gone before her.

A huge thank you to Lynn for coming forward to foster a kitty most people would have turned away.  Lola, the companion that came with Presley has been adopted by Lynn and will live out her days in a loving home.
