Noel the Christmas Kitty, One Year Later
Noel at home, December 2014
One year ago today, Regina was in the middle of a severe deep freeze, with temperatures dipping into the -40s with the windhchill. That morning, I received a call from a long-time RCR supporter. Her husband had found a frozen kitten in a ditch just outside the city, and the poor cat was in desperate need of veterinary care.
She was very thin and had such a bad eye infection that her eyes were frozen shut due to the goopy discharge. They rushed her to a vet where she was warmed up and treated, and then took her to a family member who offered to foster her.
We named her Noel, and hoped that she would be our Christmas miracle kitty. Thankfully, little Noel is a survivor and has lots of spunk. She didn't have an easy recovery - she ended up needing surgery to correct entropian eyelids, and she remains partially blind. But she is thriving in a loving home.
She fits in perfectly with the other pets in the home, and loves to play with toys and other objects that she knocks off of shelves onto the floor to turn into her own personal playthings. Here she is in her cozy pet bed, awaiting her belly rubs and wishing all her supporters a Merry Christmas!
RCR thanks everyone who generously donated in 2014 to help cats like Noel.
