Surrogate Mama Saves the Day!
Last week one of our dedicated feral feeders rescued a beautiful female cat that had been stray in her her neighbourhood for a while, and was suspected to be pregnant. We quickly booked a spay appointment for her but the day before her appointment she gave birth to 3 babies!
Mama was christened with the name Hope, and her lovely babies are Wonder, Faith and Courage.
The names are more than fitting. It turns out that it was a good thing to have a nursing mama cat on hand, because a little orphaned kitten was found out in the Creeks yesterday, screaming with hunger, fear, and cold.
A kind volunteer bottle fed her overnight and today the tiny orphan joined Hope and her kittens, and was quickly welcomed by the proud and loving little mama.
The new baby has been named Destiny, and she certainly is a stand-out in this kitten crowd! She is the only tabby amongst a family of black kitties, but they love her just the same.
We are very proud of our sweet little mama Hope, and grateful to all those involved in these two rescues.
