Goodnight Precious Girl
PFA volunteers are saddened to say goodbye to one of our feral kitties, Precious Girl. With the recent onset of extreme wind chills everyone has suffered and the homeless cat population suffers the most. Though shelter boxes are provided at all PFA approved feeding stations, and volunteers are out every day regardless of the weather to provide food for the cats at the stations, some of the cats sadly don't make it. Such is the case with Precious Girl. A young cat at 8 months of age, she was born to one of the feral momma cats who was unable to be trapped and sterilized before having another litter of kittens. With the extreme temperatures of this past week, the youngest cats are the ones that suffer the most. Precious Girl was found 5 feet from a shelter box Thursday morning when the temperature hit in the -50's. Most likely the poor sweet girl ventured out for but a few moments and didn't have the strength to return to her shelter. All of the feeders that saw this little girl daily will miss her tremendously.
Sterilization of all cats 6 months of age will reduce the birth of the unwanted cats that end up homeless and suffering the most. Please remember, even though animals have fur, it's not the same as wearing a winter coat and they can and do freeze to death in these extreme temperatures, therefore the safest place for your four-legged furry friend is in your home.
