When It's Meant to Be, It's Meant to Be!

Many PFA supporters expressed dismay recently over the case of Teacup, a beautiful young cat who had been rescued after living stray for a long time. Teacup quickly found a home but  was then abandoned again by her adopter when he left the country for a vacation and decided not to come back!

But, things have a way of working out for the best.

Teacup went back to her original foster home with the kind couple that had cared for her as a stray. It was there that she found her new home, one where she is truly cherished and adored.

Her name is now Tika, and her new family shared their sweet story with us:

Love At First Sight

April 2013-Our new addition to the family is Tika. She is a rag doll cross color Lynx point. So sweet, playful, affectionate, and a bit skittish after having been abandoned not once, but twice. A real lap cat!

Abandoned at two months to a feral existence, our friends, the “cat angels” saw her outside on their block in about Feb/Mar 2011, and started luring her in to their home. They put out food, and she started to eat the food and hang around their yard. Then they noticed she was starting to sleep on the lawn mower cover. They went to People for Animals (PFA) for a shelter and she slept in it. Eventually they could pet her.

January 2012 they could pick her up and brought her in the house. This process took 10 patient months. She wasn’t very happy to be picked up, but once she was in she figured it was safe with her new foster parents. In Feb/Mar 2012 she was adopted with three other cats, only to be abandoned a year later. The “cat angels,” went and got them ALL, found homes for the other three, and brought Tika home, again.

Tika did not integrate with our friends two cats, and so was kept on the sun porch. My husband was at our friend’s house, and as he was leaving, out of the corner of his eye he caught a movement on the sun porch. My husband took one look at her and thought “oh my, she is beautiful”. He asked our friend, “who’s that”? she of the aquamarine eyes, and soft white and grey long hair. The rest of the room didn’t go blurry, like when he saw me; however, for only the second time in his life he knew this was one female he had to have in his home! He came out to the car where I was waiting to pick him up, and said “there’s someone inside you need to meet”. I didn’t know who it could be. The funny thing is a few days before I had awoken and was missing our 22 year old cat who had died a few years earlier. I too fell in love with Tika. We spent an hour with Tika the next day to make sure we weren’t allergic to her, had fun preparing our home for our new baby, and brought her home the following day. Meant to be!

Thank you to our friends for rescuing Tika twice, and People for Animals for how they serve in the world.

Cheers to Tika, her friendly cat angels, and her new forever family!
