Happy Thanksgiving from PFA and a Little Thanksgiving Miracle Rescue
It's Thanksgiving day and we are giving thanks for the hardworking volunteers who work to help stray and homeless cats, and to the generous supporters who enable us to help animals in need.
There is never a quiet day an animal rescue, and Thanksgiving week-end is no exception. When our feral team leader Leanne was out doing routine feeding a few days ago, she came across a beautiful young tortie-tabby kitten in distress. The poor kitten was found hunkered down in a shelter box with a severely damaged front leg that was raw, infected and barely attached.
Being a week-end evening, options were limited but there was no time to waste, the kitten needed immediate help or she would be in serious jeopardy. She was rushed to a vet, where an emergency amputation was performed.
The poor kitten had a tough go as she was in shock and her temperature was very low - so low that the vet actually took her home to sleep with him to ensure she was warm and safe at all hours. Thankfully she prevailed and is now making a great comeback and doing well. She is our Thanksgiving miracle kitty!
She has been named Autumn and she is a very sweet and affectionate girl who loves attention. Autumn was calm and purred throughout her ordeal, endearing her to the vet that saved her life and PFA volunteers alike.
This special girl will be available for adoption once she has recovered from her injury and has been spayed. She deserves only the best and most loving home.
