A Tale of Two Brothers
Amadeus
Mozart
These two handsome boys are brothers that were living outside most of the winter. Despite having a home, the people had no interest in caring for them and left the boys outside most of the winter. A kind animal lover was doing her best to provide food for them and watch out for them on a busy block that is home to many strays.
One day she noticed that Amadeus (grey and white) was limping and leaving a trail of blood behind him when he walked. She took action and showed up on the doorstep of one of our foster homes with Amadeus in her arms.
He was suffering from a severe cut on his foot that had abscessed and gotten infected, and it was swollen and painful. The owners were notified but did not take responsibility. He was taken to the vet and had to be sedated to even assess the injury due to the pain. It turned out to be very infected and full of fluid. He also has two broken teeth.
While he was busy recovering in foster care, his shier brother Mozart was still out there and resisted attempts to grab him. It was over a month later when poor Mozart was finally brought into care, and was also suffering from a bad cat bite that had become infected. His leg was so swollen, we at first thought he had been hit by a car and had broken leg. At this point, we noticed that the house they came from was vacant and that residents had left him behind. He was taken for veterinary treatment and then joined in brother in foster care.
Despite the weeks in between their rescues, the boys recognized each other immediately and were soon snuggled up together. Mozart was the shier of the two and was hesitant of new people at first. However, after getting some TLC and snuggles in foster care, he is a confident and outgoing cat that loves to cuddle. He still suffers form separation anxiety and always needs to be near his foster mom.
We were pleased to reunite the two boys and would like nothing better than for them to stay together in a permanent adoptive home. They deserve to be together after what they have been through.
