Team Effort Helps Feline Flood Victims
By mid-summer, rescue groups everywhere are usually overwhelmed with stray and unwanted animals, especially cats and kittens, as the feline population typically explodes during the warmer months. Regina Cat Rescue is similarly swamped with over 120 cats and kittens in care.
However, when we learned of a small rescue group near the Manitoba / Saskatchewan border struggling with dozens of displaced animals due to severe flooding in the region, we wanted to do our part to help. Widespread flooding has left many people and animals homeless this summer, and the burden on rescues is tremendous. Thanks to the support of our dedicated volunteer foster homes, we were able to accept nine 6-week old kittens and one nursing mama with two babies into foster care.
This rescue effort was assisted by The Pack Project Inc. , who facilitated the necessary communications between RCR and Strays that Can’t Pay and also provided food donations to help care for the kittens.
The kittens are doing great and a couple of them have already been spoken for by adopters! The rest will be available for adoption in the coming weeks.
If you are interested in adoption one of our little flood kittens, please contact us at reginacatrescue@gmail.com for information.
