Teaming Up to Help Cats In Need

Regina Cat Rescue (RCR) is a high volume rescue and no time is busier for us than the spring when our TNR program is in full swing, and stray cats and kittens abound. We always have plenty of cats in need here in Regina, but we also try to help out where we can.

Recently, we were contacted by a small Northern community dealing with an overcrowded and unsafe situation with multiple cats. The rescuers knew their limited resources wouldn't go far, so they quickly reached out across the province for help saving many cat lives.

All in all, 33 cats and kittens were rescued and distributed to multiple rescues including RCR, SCAT Street Cat Rescue in Saskatoon, the Moose Jaw Humane Society and the Victoria Pacific Cat Clinic in British Columbia.

Make no mistake - RCR is always more than overloaded with local rescues and we prioritize helping cats in our own community. But we know there is little to no support for animal rescues in rural areas and small towns so we're happy we could help at least a few kitties get a better life.

Special thanks to the foster homes that stepped up to help with fostering and transport, the other rescues who joined the cause, and community partners like the Paws Wright Inn who kindly hosted cats in transit overnight at no charge while they were being transferred.

It took the kindness and collaboration of many people to ensure that these cats in got the care they required and deserved, and RCR is proud to be part of such a collaborative effort to help cats in need.
