Six ways to help rescued cats during COVID-19

Like many charities, Regina Cat Rescue (RCR) is facing uncertainty due to COVID-19. The future of several sources of income – working at Mosaic Stadium events, working at a bingo hall and hosting fundraising dinners – is currently unclear.

What isn’t unclear is the number of cats that need help. We continue to rescue cats daily and give them the veterinary care and support they need.

We know some of our supporters and volunteers are facing layoffs and other hardships. But if you’re able to, here are the top 6 ways you can help rescued cats in need:

1. Donate funds. To help us pay vet bills, buy vaccines and dewormer, we need funds. You can donate by e-transfer, PayPal or cheque.

2. Donate unopened food and litter. With many new foster homes on board, we need supplies like unopened wet and dry cat food, and clumping litter. Email us to arrange contactless pick up or drop off location for supplies.

3. Save your cans and bottles for RCR. Sarcan is closed right now, but you can still save your recyclables for RCR! Don’t have room to store them? Email us and we can arrange to pick up.

4. Order RCR merch. Show your support for RCR and help us financially at the same time! Order your clothing here.

5. Sponsor a spay or neuter. No cat leaves RCR’s care unsterilized. So, you can help get a cat ready for adoption by sponsoring their spay or neuter surgery. Learn more.

6. Adopt a new furry family member. If you’re ready to make the life-long commitment of cat guardianship, check out our catalogue of adoptable cats. Plus, by adopting a cat from RCR, it means you open up a foster home space for a cat currently living on the streets!
