Message from Regina Cat Rescue Re: COVID-19

At Regina Cat Rescue (RCR), we understand that the COVID-19 situation is rapidly evolving, and we wanted you, as our volunteers and supporters, to know how we are currently addressing it.

Our greatest concern is for your health and wellbeing. If you are a volunteer in any capacity, we urge you to follow the recommended public health protocols that are being widely communicated. If you are uncomfortable volunteering at any time, please let your team lead know, and we will make alternate arrangements. Volunteers in each area (e.g. Pet Rescue, Community Cats, etc.) will receive a separate communication specific to their area from their team lead.

We have postponed our upcoming brunchraiser, cocktail night and Annual General Meeting, and bingos have also been cancelled. We are looking into technological alternatives for the AGM, in the event that we are unable to meet in person in the foreseeable future. We will share more information as it is available.

RCR will continue to rescue cats, as we always have, and adoptions will proceed as long as both adopters and foster homes are comfortable and are following public health protocols. However, we want you to understand that there may be limitations to our response to requests from the public. We recognize that the postponement of fundraising activities and the uncertainty potential donors feel about their own financial situations will put a strain on the finances of our organization. To ensure the long-term sustainability of RCR, we need to be fiscally responsible, and this may mean taking in fewer cats. We ask that you be understanding at this time; please know that we will do our best to help as many cats as possible under these unique and challenging circumstances.

In closing, on behalf of the Board of Directors of RCR, I want to thank you for your tireless support. Our organization has been going strong for almost 40 years because of people like you, and we are eternally grateful. We can get through this together.

Hold your pets extra tight, and please be safe out there.

Best wishes,

Sabrina Cataldo, President, Regina Cat Rescue
