Surgery Needed for Noel, the Christmas Kitten
This cute little tabby girl is Noel, our Christmas miracle kitten who was found starving, frozen and suffering from a severe eye infection in ditch outside Regina. She was very thin and her poor eyes were almost frozen shut due to weeping from the wind and the mucous from the infection. After being treated by a vet, Noel was placed in foster care and has made an excellent recovery.
Despite permanent vision damage, she is a playful young cat who likes belly-rubs and treats and loves to climb her cat tree. Now that she has recovered from her ordeal, it has been determined that she needs surgery to correct a condition known as entropian, a genetic condition in which a portion of the eyelid is inverted or folded inward against the eyeball. This results in irritation and scratches to the cornea -- the front surface of the eye -- leading to corneal ulceration, or corneal perforation*. Surgery is needed to correct this condition and avoid further damage to Noel's already sensitive eye.
This is a common surgery and will relieve the discomfort and irritation that Noel is currently experiencing and the prognosis is very positive. Donations to help cover the cost of her surgery are welcome and eligible for a tax receipt if $25 or over. You can make a secure on-line donation through PayPal via our website at www.pfasask.com or you can forward a donation to People for Animals, PO Box 33066, Cathedral Postal Outlet, Regina, SK, S4T 7X2.
PFA greatly appreciates your support of our rescued cats and kittens.
