Media Relations Coordinator
As the Media Relations Coordinator volunteer, you will play an important role in showcasing Regina Cat Rescues efforts to the public.
You will work closely with members of the Communications and Marketing team to develop a marketing strategy, and work to implement it and bring media attention to RCR’s day to day operations and various initiatives. As RCR does not operate out of a facility, this role is a home-based position, with occasional in-person meetings.
Responsibilities
Assist in the creation of an annual marketing strategy
Complete proactive media outreach to ensure RCR’s operations and initiatives receive the appropriate media coverage and attention
Collaborate with RCR volunteers to stay up to date with all initiatives, so you can update the marketing calendar and arrange interviews, media coverage, etc. as appropriate
Promotion of events and fundraising initiatives in community publications and listings - both online and offline
Receive, review, and respond to relevant incoming emails from RCR volunteers and the public
Assist with providing education to the public/volunteers as needed in collaboration with the Community Education Facilitator
Commit to monthly meetings with Operations Manager and RCR teams, where you will provide an oral/written report
Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors
Time Commitments
2 hours per week.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Age requirement of 18+ is a requirement, with a valid license and reliable transportation considered an asset
Commitment to RCR’s mission and love of animals
Access to phone/computer/internet/email is a requirement, as you will be provided an RCR email address, which is the primary means of communication
High attention to detail and well organized
Past media relations experience is an asset
Proficient with Google software and apps
Excellent written and oral communication
Great interpersonal skills
Ability to be self-directed, while taking direction from team leads
Efficient problem solving and creative thinking skills
Ability to work well independently and as a team player
