As the volunteer Neonatal lead, you play an integral role in rescued kittens that are placed into the care of Regina Cat Rescue.

You will work closely with the rescue team to provide support for incoming neonatal and kitten requests, ensure kittens in care receive  the appropriate care necessary to thrive, and assist with smooth transitions from foster home to adoptive home. You will commit to training and supervising a small, dedicated group of Neonatal Foster Home Volunteers, while assessing their home situation for suitability and availability. As a remote-based organization, you will work from home aside from occasional meetings in person or attending foster homes to provide assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Daily care for rescued kittens, which includes but is not limited to feeding, providing fresh and accessible water, ensuring litter box(es) are well maintained and clean, and socializing foster kittens in your care through play and affection: Please note at times care for neonatal kittens may require extensive, long hours, with care every 2 - 3 hours. This ensures they are getting the appropriate nutrients, toileting (neonatal kittens require assistance with this), and gaining weight appropriately. RCR is grateful to have an informed and well-versed volunteer, who will assist with providing training prior to acceptance.

  • Ensure neonatal foster homes have the appropriate supplies to get started and continue to have as such along their journey, in collaboration with the Supply Coordinator

  • Receive, review, and respond to relevant emails from RCR volunteers and the public in a timely manner

  • Commit to providing reports to Foster Home Management Lead, so RCR’s database can be kept up to date and accurately reflect kittens under RCR’s care
