Thank you to our volunteers and Western Pizza

For eight years, Regina Cat Rescue (RCR) has had a very close partnership with Western Pizza (WP) as a result of their presence at Mosaic Stadium. For each event held at the stadium, WP relies on RCR to provide volunteers to staff their booth. In return, RCR receives a set dollar amount per volunteer per hour. For example, two volunteers working at a Rider game will raise enough funds to sterilize one cat.
Thanks to the tireless volunteers who staff these events, RCR earned a whopping $43,376 between wages and tips in 2019! Thank you to each one of the 93 volunteers who gave the gift of time to these events. You showed up in a BIG way, putting in 2,668 hours of labour.
Because of your efforts, RCR was able to provide much needed veterinary care to cats who came our way during stadium season like Campbell who needed treatment for his eyes, Athena who needed dental surgery and this basket of kittens that needed vaccinations, deworming and sterilization.
We are grateful to Spiro Bonis and his staff for choosing RCR as a community partner and continuing to help us meet our fundraising goals. Special thanks to Mike, Kirk, Jen, Georgia, Tarek, Tim and Dave for your patience in training volunteers in the basics of food service. The teamwork and camaraderie throughout the season creates an inviting and enthusiastic environment for volunteers, many of whom have not previously worked in food service.
As always, we need committed volunteers for these opportunities. Each Rider game and concert requires 33 volunteers, while weekday events like high school and university football require 4 reliable volunteers.
Thanks to those who are a part of the stadium WP team and regularly sacrifice time they would sometimes rather spend elsewhere. Your willingness to show up and do the work to help Regina’s abandoned cats and kittens is greatly appreciated.
If you would like the opportunity to learn new skills like customer service, food preparation and working a till, check out the volunteer job description. You can also consider taking the Special Occasion Responsible Service (SORS) course over the winter, which is required for volunteers who pour beer or work the till. The course is $10 and delivered online.
Volunteers who provide a SORS certificate of completion and show up for three full shifts at the stadium are eligible for reimbursement. Volunteers who show up regularly may also request a reference letter from RCR for employment purposes.
See you in 2020!
