Tragic Family Illness Leaves Cats Homeless

PFA has been contacted by a young cat-loving family with a serious problem - their young child was stricken with a sudden and serious illness that destroyed his liver and seriously compromised his immune system.

The family has been out of province for the last six months while their son received the treatment he needed to survive, and they are finally able to come home soon but must re-home the cats. The regimen required for the child's health does not allow for pets in the home.

They love their cats and are heartbroken. The one cat, Nog, is the child's best friend and slept with him every night.  Having to give them up and being faced with potentially putting them down is adding to the stress of an already tragic situation.

Unfortunately none of their family members are able to help, so they have reached out to PFA.

The cats are beautiful and healthy - both are spayed females.

Nog - is an 11 yr old female Tabbico (Half Tabby/Half Calico) - she is a sweetheart who loves to cuddle. A little on the pudgy side, she loves to eat, sit on your lap and get a good brushing. She is great with kids (she slept with our son every night). She is a kitten at heart and still loves to play and get cuddles. Any cat lover would be lucky to have this cat that will love them right back.

Picciotto, 'Picky' for short, is 13 year old tabby. More aloof than Nog, she is very low maintenance, and doesn't like to be over-cuddled, but will seek out cuddles all the time. She has a very sweet temperament, but would be better around adults and older kids as oppossed to toddlers and babies who would want to grab her. She loves to sleep in the sun and look out the window. She likes to be brushed too and loves a scratching post. She has a slight plastic allergy, but loves to chew on plastic bags if they are left lying around. There is no serious reaction - just a few bumps on her chin, so it's better to keep the bags put away and feed her from a glass dish.

We are looking for either foster homes or permanent adoptive homes, quickly, for these beautiful girls. They do not need to be placed together.

PFA can assist with supplies for the cats if we can find a foster home.

Please share this information with cat lovers everywhere, and contact us at pfasask@gmail.com for more information.

Thanks!
