Western Pizza Volunteer Coordinator

As a Western Pizza Volunteer Lead you will work in collaboration with the Volunteer Relations lead to meet Regina Cat Rescues fundraising goals through the presence of RCR at Mosaic Stadium events in the WP Kiosk.

You will work with a team of WP Volunteers and RCR leads to coordinate volunteers to attend each event, along with actively recruiting, supervising, training, and assisting volunteers at events, as needed. As a remote-based organization, you will be working from home aside from attending events or occasional in person meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with the Volunteer Relations lead to receive applications of interested volunteers and assess for suitability

  • Supervise, train, and assist volunteers: working with the support of other WP Leads to ensure each event has 20 - 25 volunteers, including the back station where food is prepared and each event has a Main Lead assigned, to meet volunteers early, hand out passes and T-shirts, and pick them up at the end of each game, plus provide support and assistance at each event. You will clearly communicate to each volunteer their responsibilities and tasks.

  • Liaise with Western Pizza concession owners to obtain Rider Game schedules and other events scheduled as needed

  • Pick up cheques from Western Pizza head office when ready and deposit to RCR accounts as able

  • Promote other general volunteer opportunities in line with RCR’s missions, values, and vision

  • Respond to relevant emails from the public and other RCR volunteers

  • Keep detailed records of events, volunteers in attendance, monetary funds earned, etc.

  • Commit to attend monthly meetings with the Operations Manager and other RCR members, where you will provide an oral/written report

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Time Commitments

  • 5 – 6 hours per event, some may go over a 6 hour time frame.

Please note while we do our best to accurately reflect the time commitment required to ensure interested individuals are aware, it may fluctuate depending on the time of year and seasons.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Age requirement of 19+ is a must, as you must be 19 to legally serve alcoholic beverages in Saskatchewan; a valid license and reliable transportation is an asset

  • Commitment to RCR’s mission and love of animals

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong leadership, multi-tasking, and time management skills

  • Access to phone/computer/internet/email is a requirement, as you will be provided an RCR email address which is the primary means of communication

  • Able to act with a high degree of cordiality and mannerism as a face for RCR

  • Able to motivate volunteers and ensure they feel extremely valued

  • Able to work collaboratively with others and independently as needed

Special Occasion Responsible Service (SORS)

New volunteers should complete the Special Occasion Responsible Service (SORS) training. SORS is an online course required of all volunteers who serve or sell alcohol as part of an unpaid special occasion position (such as events at Mosaic). Without the course you can still volunteer at these events, but won’t be able to work the cash register and/or serve alcohol. We need a minimum number of volunteers who can work the cash register and/or serve alcohol, so it’s a great benefit to RCR if you complete it. Here are the details:

  • Find out more information and register for the course here.

  • The online course takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

  • Enter the code VOLUNTEER (in all caps) when purchasing the course and the fee will be waived.

  • When completing your registration, identify the organization as Regina Cat Rescue.

  • Once completed, please email a screen shot or photo of your certificate to volunteerwp@reginacatrescue.com.

  • Certificates are valid for five years.
